Free Download Charlie & The Chocolate Factory Alternative Soundtrack!

Sunday, December 26th, 2010

Hello!

We hope you all had a lovely Christmas this year and that the snow didn’t stop you getting from where you needed to be for it!

We are pleased to give you a free Christmas present this year – you can download the live recording of our alternative soundtrack to Charlie & The Chocolate Factory which we played earlier in December at our Christmas gig!  If you want
to hear what the original film sounds like with a drum n bass/dubstep twist you can download the whole thing here for free:

It’s been a great year for thebrokendoor and 2011 is set to be a whole new chapter for us.  As well as being a live band we are venturing into new territory of using 4 laptops to create a drum n bass mashup of the best dnb tracks with all sorts of samples on top that you may recognize varying from Prodigy through to The Beatles.  This is having it’s very first showing on new
years eve. Click the link for the flyer:

If you fancy a sneak preview of what that sounds like you can check it here:

Merry Christmas!

I Love Zombies!

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

What’s new?

Dead Rising 2 is out and I feel I should get on it if only for the ability to construct a zombie-eating bucket [VIDEO].

The Walking Dead, the acclaimed comic series by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore, is soon to be aired as a TV series (as an aside, the cast seems to be made up of Channel 4 drama actors. It worked for The Wire, but I’ll reserve judgement). [TRAILER]

And (continuing the theme of resurrection), TheBrokenDoor are undergoing some awesome changes at the moment. I don’t know what I’m allowed to reveal, so I’ll be brief until I can discuss with the group but its fair to say that you’ll be impressed and excited. Of course, it involves a LOT of tech stuff (why can’t we form a ukulele orchestra? It’d be a lot easier) and is based on the same core principles that we have always stood for: fluidity, creativity and spontaneity.

We will be gigging it soon (Looking forward to the NYE gig at the Dog & Partridge).

On another note, last Christmas a group of our most loyal supporters made it through the blizzards to watch us do a live, improvised remix of The Wizard of Oz [GET THE ENTIRE THING FOR FREE AT OUR BANDCAMP]. We’re planning on screening it again soon for a select few friends at Manchester’s Green Room (Get in touch if you fancy coming). We’re also meeting soon to discuss whether we should do something like that again.

Leave a post on our wall [TBD FACEBOOK] if you can think of a film you’d like us to remix.

We’ve got a gig this week at a WaterAid fundraiser and I think its appropriate that you all have a look at their site and the work they do, I myself  will be donating. Forget everything else; There are people in the world without clean water and its simply a travesty.

Anyway I promise to keep you informed about what’s going on, and hope that you’re all enjoying the onset of autumn!!

Help Us Get Festival Slots!

Monday, March 8th, 2010

TBD are currently working like beavers trying to get on some festivals this summer.  Ploughing through a list longer than your arm with many festivals seemingly not accepting applications from unsigned bands due to your pet mouse playing xylophone applying, we now ask you:

Do you know anyone who can help TBD get festival bookings?

If you have any leads please contact us on our email: email@thebrokendoor.co.uk

TBD meaty treaties will be offered in return for you assisting in our beavering!!!

Album Launch Smasher!

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

TBD launched their debut album ’52′ at their home venue ‘The Dog and Partridge’ in Bolton.  Supported by friends they met along their travels ‘With That Knife‘, ‘Kites of San Quentin‘ and ‘The Legend of The Seven Black Tentacles‘, the evening proved to be a great success due to good music and good beer!

TBD’s set went down well with the crowd demanding an encore and if that wasn’t enough, they consequently went on to buy most of TBD’s supply of the album.  They are now running a second printing this week due to popular demand.

You can find pictures of the evening on their facebook.  Full versions of the tracks have been uploaded onto their myspace to satisfy your listening needs!

Check out the gig listing to find out where TBD will be next transmitting bass frequencies in a town near you.

Post Celebration Sobriety Update

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Well. We’re alive. Just about.

Since Xmas we’ve been close to burnout trying to get the album in a fit state ready for our release date on the 27th of Feb. We’re all holding down full time jobs, losing our marbles, trying to have a social life and getting an album together. Tough times guys! Show us some sympathy or at least tell us it was worth it once the albums out! We’ve got a title for the record now too. But I don’t know if we’re announcing it til the weekend.

We’re heading into the studio in 2 weeks. Got something new to lay down. It will NOT be what you expect. We’re not changing direction, we’re just indulging ourselves a little bit.

On another note we’re also prepping something very special and working in conjunction with some amazing artists. Don’t want to spill the beans about this yet either so we’ll just tease you a little longer til we’ve got the full list.

Spotify list coming your way in a day or two to tide you over til the title, the secret and the album are all released.
And for all those that were asking: YES the album will be available on Spotify for you to check out.

Big love kids!

TBDBlog: Here we go!

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Alright kids!

This is us proving to ourselves we’re capable of updating our own website. We’re finally getting tech savvy with it all. We don’t wanna spill too much on here in one go, we prefer to tease you. Its more fun that way lol. But what we will do is give you a few sneaky hints of what you can be expecting.

> We’re about to start microblogging snippets from the album over 12secs and youtube. The more people watch the more of tracks you get to hear next time etc. Clever eh?

> Don’t wanna say too much but in a week or so we’ll be announcing a competition for all you budding musicians out there. Trust me its gonna be awesome!

> We’re gonna be making some great vids about how we put the record together, and about how we run our live setup. These are gonna be a MUST for all you technies.

> We get to show you all the cool bits and bobs we’re up to at the moment. But you know how this works, we never give you the whole story at once so you gotta keep checking back.

> Theres hopefully gonna be some cool free stuff up for grabs too! Sshhhh..

The thing we’re all most excited about at the moment is our Xmas celebration gig @ The Dog. Don’t wanna give you guys the full run down yet so heres a bit of a clue to furrow your brows for a few days til we give you all the details.

Big love!

We’re @ the Soundhouse in Bolton showing off our noise-making tom-foolery while in the process giving drumlights.com’s sexiest products a run for their money. Result? We rocked the joint and drumlights.com sailed through with flying colours taking everything we could throw at them.
